Douglas May has been honored with the Golden Egg Award for outstanding lifetime achievement in visual communications. May’s contributions, which include brand development, interactive communications, integrated marketing, and design education, have made a lasting impact on the industry.
The Golden Egg Award is the highest honor the Dallas Society of Visual Communications can give to an individual. Golden Egg winners and nominees are creative professionals who have had a positive and lasting impact on the industry by consistently making extraordinary contributions to the field of creative arts throughout their careers or have made an impression on others through formal education or mentoring. There have only been 34 recipients since the award’s inception in 1975. Past recipients include Stan Richards, Bill Hill, Jack Unruh, Bart Forbes, Woody Pirtle, and Sam Bloom among other distinguished industry professionals.
May’s career has been marked by a series of notable achievements and milestones. His design firm, May&Co., was instrumental in propelling numerous Dallas-based clients to national and international recognition. Notably, his contributions supported marketing communication and investor relations initiatives for emerging companies such as Altsys, PageNet, Units, PCServiceSource, and Ryan during the 1990s and 2000s. His design expertise also helped sustain established brands including Neiman Marcus, PwC, The Washington Opera, SMU, Hilti, Texas Instruments, Kaiser Permanente, Overhead Door Corporation, and Zebco.
